Summary

  • Elevate the complete Modernizing classic SharePoint pages subtree to a root-level Learn navigation node immediately before Archive.
  • Move the legacy SharePoint Modernization Scanner navigation subtree under Archive.
  • Preserve every existing Scanner Markdown/YAML source path, Learn URL, report schema, FAQ, media asset, and download path.
  • Reframe the Scanner landing page as a Learn-first starting-point and legacy entry while retaining the existing instructions for customers who still need them.
  • Keep Microsoft Learn as the customer entry point and confine direct PnP Microsoft 365 Assessment documentation links to the Learn Assessment articles.
  • Add a reusable legacy notice to Scanner report and scenario pages.
  • Relabel remaining active Scanner references as legacy data or scanner-only workflows.

Compatibility

  • Scanner source files aren't moved or deleted.
  • Existing Learn URLs remain unchanged.
  • Legacy report schemas and FAQ content remain available.
  • Existing SharePoint/sp-dev-modernization links remain valid through the GitHub redirect to pnp/modernization.
  • Scanner-only workflows remain discoverable under their scenario pages and the Archive subtree.
  • Scanner, PnP PowerShell, workflow, and Add-ins articles no longer link directly to PnP Assessment documentation or aliases.
  • Repository-wide link scans find direct PnP Assessment targets only in the assessment-tool-classic-pages* articles.

Scope

This PR changes documentation navigation, positioning, link routing, labels, legacy notices, and related retirement wording. It doesn't change the Scanner binary, Microsoft 365 Assessment tool, PnP PowerShell, or page transformation behavior.

Current validation

  • Focused SharePoint documentation-agent reviews have no Must Fix or Should Fix findings, including the final Azure ACS link correction.
  • OpenPublishing, PoliCheck, and CLA pass on commit 954498fba.
  • OpenPublishing reports docs/toc.yml as succeeded.
  • All 29 ms.date edits were reverted to their main values in response to review.
  • The two Azure ACS links now use /azure/active-directory/develop/; the OpenPublishing report no longer references that article.

Remaining validation

  • Verify Scanner download links, aliases, report media, FAQ links, and unchanged URLs.
  • Complete the final archive compatibility review.

Reverted this ms.date change and all 28 other ms.date changes in commit 81e3f8530. The PR now has no ms.date diff against main; OpenPublishing, PoliCheck, and CLA pass.

Andrew Connell (@andrewconnell) Fixed both docs-link-absolute findings in 954498fba: the Azure ACS article now uses /azure/active-directory/develop/ for both Microsoft Entra ID links. The branch is rebased onto current main, including the corrected publication dates from #10979. A focused SharePoint-dev review found no issues; the new OpenPublishing report no longer references the Azure ACS article, and OpenPublishing, PoliCheck, and CLA pass.

* Removed 100K container limit and added limit for custom columns per container (#10981)

Added a new limit for custom columns per container to be 40.  Also removed the 100K container limit.  There is no hard upper limit and it confuses customers.

Updating RateLimit guidance for SharePoint Online, documenting that SharePoint does not to support this particular feature. There was a preview, but it's no longer there.
